GLOHMED prioritizes its clinical research projects under following domains.

  • Infectious disease and diagnostics
    • Maternal and newborn Group B Streptococcus colonization and infection
    • Newborn colonization with multidrug-resistant pathogens and the risk factors for their acquisition

Bacterial colonization is considered as a risk factor for developing an infection, including among neonates. This study aims to elucidate what the risk factors for acquisition of bacteria are for the neonates. Furthermore, the findings of the study are anticipated to characterize the features of colonization across multiple time points. This will be supported by the molecular investigations of the bacterial isolates including screening of antimicrobial-resistant genes and genetic similarity.

    • Acute respiratory infections in children (RSV, other respiratory viruses and bacteria including pneumococcal infections)
  • Surveillance studies
  • Critical Care
  • Dermatology & STIs
  • Health technology
    • Point-of-care/ bed-side lung ultrasound for the diagnosis and management of childhood respiratory infections
