• Formation of Asia-UK maternal-neonatal infection and immunity network

In March 2025, GlohMed reconsolidated its partnership with the City St. George’s Institute of Infection and Immunity, in a joint meeting held in London. GlohMed investigator Dr. Suraj Bhattarai shared updates from an ongoing clinical study in Nepal which aims to identify leading causes of morbidity and mortality in early neonatal period, with focus on key bacterial pathogens (Group B Strep, Klebsiella, etc.). Additionally, both teams discussed new opportunities in this area and committed to delve more into the causatives and prevention of perinatal infections in low-resource settings through our very new initiative called – Asia-UK Maternal-Neonatal Infections and Immunity Network (AMMuNet) . Dr. Bhattarai, co-lead of the network affirmed during the meeting, “This network will engage clinicians, clinical academics, global health researchers, microbiologists, molecular biologists, early careers scholars, health administrators and professional societies from UK, Nepal, India and other Asian nations”. Through this initiative, GlohMed looks forward to joining hands with as many research & development partners/ collaborators in the region to advance scientific knowledge in maternal-neonatal medicine, and promote evidence based clinical practice in healthcare settings.
