A recently published study “Comparison of clinical characteristics and outcomes between COVID-19 survivors and non-survivors: a retrospective observational study” authored by a GlohMed investigator Dr. Suraj Bhattarai, emphasizes the importance of understanding these clinical factors in managing severe COVID-19 cases. The study aimed to compare the clinical features of COVID-19 patients who survived and those who did not after being transferred from general wards to critical care units in four major hospitals of Nepal. Data was collected from 78 patients, gathered from the National Intensive Care Unit registry, revealing that 37.1% did not survive, while 62.8% recovered. The analysis revealed that non-survivors had lower mean arterial pressure upon admission to intensive care units compared to survivors. Patients with cardiac dysfunction on admission and those requiring inotropes or vasopressors had a higher likelihood of not surviving.
